When it comes to replacement windows, there are plenty of great options that work for most window openings. You shouldn’t feel stuck with any specific style just because it’s what you currently have installed. At NextWave Construction, we can work with you to change the style of window that is currently in your home to a style that more closely fits your needs. We’re known from our backyard of Maple Park, Illinois throughout the Chicagoland region for installing many types of windows and helping our customers find the perfect matches for their lifestyles.
If you are planning on replacing your windows, first seize the moment to ask yourself if your current style of windows is meeting your needs. Are your current windows not giving you enough ventilation? Do you wish they could open and close more smoothly? Do you need more light in a room than your current windows allow? All of these problems are solvable by simply making a change. During your free consultation, NextWave Construction’s experts will learn what you want and recommend the best products to help you meet your needs.
Here’s a quick glimpse at the various replacement window styles we install:
Picture windows are unique in the fact that they do not open. Picture windows will typically allow the most light into your home due to the fact there is no hardware to obscure the glass. Because they are stationary, picture windows are usually the most energy efficient as well.
A double-hung window consists of two operatable sashes. The top sash can slide down, while the bottom sash can slide up. This gives the homeowner a choice in how they would like to ventilate their room/home.
Slider windows open by sliding horizontally along a track located at the top and bottom of the window. Imagine a double-hung window, just turned on its side. Slider windows can either be twin-vent or three-lite windows with a picture window in the middle.
Casement windows are renowned for their full view. Casement windows have a “crank” style opening which will swing the window outwards. Casement windows are also known for their locking mechanisms and full seals around the window.

Bay/bow windows are built to project outward from the home. A bay window will have 3 windows with a larger projection, while a bow window will have 4+ windows with a softer projection. A bay/bow window will come with an interior seat and sometimes need their own roof built on top.
Much like a casement window, an awning window has hinges and a “crank” style handle. Unlike a casement window, an awning window will swing outward from the bottom and create overhead protection, meaning it can be opened during light rain without letting water into your home.
Geometric windows come in multitudes of shapes and sizes. Geometric windows are stationary windows that are typically used in accents or are part of a larger window grouping.
An escape window is typically used in finished basements. An escape window looks exactly like a single-hung window, only with a latch on the side. In the event of an emergency, someone can open the latch and the whole window will swing open to allow for an easy escape.
If you decide to solve your window problem another way—by adding a new window where there previously wasn’t one—NextWave Construction can handle it. We’ll create an entirely new window opening to your specifications and fill it with one of the above listed window styles we offer.
