Elgin has more kinds of houses than almost any town we work in. Victorians and Queen Annes climb the hills above the Fox River downtown, brick bungalows and Cape Cods fill the mid-century neighborhoods, and newer two-stories keep spreading west along Randall Road. Each era has its own way of aging, and NextWave Exteriors has been sorting out what each one needs since 1982.
Windows That Fit an Elgin House, Old or New
Original openings on Elgin's historic homes rarely match a stock size, and that is where an experienced installer earns their keep. We measure every opening and order Pella® and ProVia® windows built to it, with grille patterns and exterior colors chosen to look like they belong on the house. Newer homes usually need the opposite fix: builder-grade glass swapped for insulated units that hold heat through a January wind off the river. Elgin homeowners can read more on our Elgin window replacement page.
Siding Built for Fox Valley Winters
Freeze-thaw cycling is hard on siding, and Elgin gets plenty of it. We install James Hardie fiber cement, insulated vinyl, and vinyl lap siding, and we will tell you which one makes sense for your home's exposure and your budget rather than pushing a single product.
Entry, Patio, and Storm Doors
Many of Elgin's older homes still hang their original wood entry doors, and most of them have warped, stuck, or let in drafts for years. Fiberglass and steel front entry doors hold their shape through humid summers and bitter winters while keeping a traditional look. We also replace patio doors and add storm doors that protect the entry you already love.
Why Elgin Homeowners Call NextWave
Homeowners here often reach us after a bigger company quoted the same package for a 1905 Victorian that it quotes for a 2005 subdivision home. We walk your house first, then recommend. Every installation is backed by our lifetime labor guarantee, and NextWave has been family-owned and Chicagoland-based since 1982.

I would like to thank Dave Jr. and Dave Sr. for spending there time explaining everything that well be done on the job site. The price was reasonable and the workmanship was very good.
Could not have asked for a better experience. Great communication, responsive, on time, and high quality work at a fair price! Super happy with our new windows!
We loved that this is a local family owned business. From the very beginning the process was very easy. Dave was very easy to talk to and we were explained everything in detail. The project was done within 4-5 weeks and looks great. Would highly recommend.
